AIM

The aim of the undergraduate nursing program is to :

  • Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives at basic level in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.

  • Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights of facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community nursing services and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor and manager in a clinical / public health setting

OBJECTIVES

On completion of B.Sc. Nursing degree programme the graduates will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge from physical, biological and behavioral sciences, medicine, including alternative systems and nursing in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.

  • Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors, which affect health of individuals and groups.

  • Provide nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups

  • Demonstrate critical thinking skill in making decisions in all situations in order to provide quality care.

  • Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care.

  • Provide promotive, preventive and restorative health services in line with the national health policies and programs.

  • Practice within the framework of code of ethics and professional conduct and acceptable standards of practice within the legal boundaries.

  • Communicate effectively with individuals and groups and members of the health team in order to promote effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork

  • Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in clinical/ community health settings.

  • Participate effectively as members of the health team in health care delivery system.

  • Demonstrate leadership and managerial skills in clinical / community health settings.

  • Conduct need based research studies in various settings and utilize the research findings to improve the quality of care.



 

Nursing Degree Course Overview

 

B. Sc. Nursing is a four-year undergraduate programme which will give you the specialized  knowledge and hands-on clinical skills training. It is approved by Govt. of Gujarat,Gujarat Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council. This programme helps students to gain knowledge about all the subjects related to Healthcare and nursing. All the Facilities are provided to students for clinical experiences under the guidance of experience faculty in various clinical and community settings. Students also have excellent and challenging opportunities to explore Nursing through exposure visits to Communities, Primary Health Centres, Subcentres and Community Health Centre’s. he nursing students are trained to provide quality patient care based on our strong commitment towards education, practice, research, innovation and collaboration. After successful completion of Bachelor of Science in the field of Nursing, the graduates or the candidates can either work as a nurse in a good reputed hospital or clinic or take up higher studies such as Masters in Nursing after their Bachelor's.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized Board or University with Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum 45% aggregate marks (PCBE); for SC/ST candidates – the minimum percentage of marks is 40%..

  • A candidate should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or would complete the said age on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the B.Sc. (Nursing) degree course.

  • Students shall be medically fit
