How NEP Will Benefit College Students?

NEP or New Education Policy 2020 acts as a welcoming change or positive news amid all the negative in this year 2020. The improvements proposed by NEP 2020 is something that many educators and students never saw coming. This education policy has a great impact on all school and college education.

Here are the few benefits that a college student will get due to the implementation of NEP 2020:

  • 1. Single University Entrance Exam Introduced
Previously, if a student needed to seek admission into the top university in Gujarat, Delhi, etc., then s/he had to go through the pressure of multiple exams. Also, the difficulty level of papers across several central universities was different. But, now students only have to give one entrance exam and can get saved from the pressure of giving multiple of those. Plus, the level of the question paper will be standardized, error-free, and the admission process will be streamlined.
  • 2. Multi-Disciplinary Form of Education
The emphasis on providing multi-disciplinary colleges in each district by 2030 is also a promising idea. NEP’s main focus is to ensure that students are well prepared for the career ahead by getting the best multi-disciplinary education. That’s why it has renewed the focus of disciplines like arts and humanities. In terms of skills so far, remote learning of concepts has left our students far behind.
  • 3. Single Umbrella Body for Higher Education
Third and the most amazing benefit of NEP 2020 is the proposal to set up the HECI (Higher Education Commission of India). This means, now there will be no existing bodies like UGC or AICTE, and that is very crucial to have uniformity in education standards. With the implementation of this plan, the coordination and uniformity among institutions will become much easier and also provide a great benefit to college aspirants.
  • 4. Set-Up of Offshore Campus
New Education Policy 2020, encourages universities to set up offshore campuses due to which international universities in India can set up institutes. It will lead to competition from outside India, talent transfer, and main practices, eventually leading to a great deal of change in the country's education standards. All this will definitely provide real exposure to college aspirants, and a day will probably come when students in India could afford worldwide education instead of spending lacs outside India.
  • 5. Change in UG Program Duration
With the implementation of NEP 2020, now the undergraduate degrees can be of either 3 or 4-years duration, with several exit opportunities. This means, now a student can choose between 1-year diploma, 3 years bachelor's degree, and a 4-year bachelor’s degree with research across disciplines.

With this NEP 2020, The Gross Enrollment Ratio (GRE) will start rising for the country. In addition, several entries and exit options at the undergraduate level will be permitted. Now, all the college aspirants will get the freedom to experiment with what they need to learn and have the flexibility to do graduation from anywhere they want. To help students in achieving their dreams, Swarrnim University, the top university in Gujarat always provides them with the opportunity to learn entrepreneurship skills along with graduation so that they can start their own business in the future. Be the part of this university and take your first step towards a bright future.
